Saving Spalding Pets

I am part of a volunteer group of people dedicated to rescuing animals awaiting death by "gas chamber" methods. These are the animals at one such shelter, the Spalding county animal shelter in Griffin, GA.

AO6-1869 TERRIER MIX-KILLED IN THE SPALDING COUNTY GAS CHAMBER...NOONE CAME FOR HER.

When I first saw this girl the other day, her card was marked "aggressive." So I did not post her as she did seem very nervous in her cage. But she has calmed down slowly, and today she was wagging her tail and had a spark in her eye that says, "I am not mean..just misunderstood." So I asked the ACO what her story was and it is that she was picked up for growling at someone and making them afraid. It is evident that she has been nursing puppies very recently. I am sure she was protecting her babies from strangers..no puppies were found, though. Now that she is out of the "crazy over protective mama mode" she has settled into a friendly girl who is only about 30 lbs. Her last day is listed as JULY 19.

Oh, you poor baby...I am so sorry. I can only have faith the world that you are in now is better to you than this one was. Please know that someone here loves you. Enjoy your new life where you will never have to feel pain or fear ever again. I love you sweet mama. I hope your babies are somewhere safe.

So many good animals have lost their lives because their humans were not perceptive enough to understand them.

I do hope the day soon comes when shelters junk their gas chambers. At least they could use less stressful means of killing until the pet over-population problem is under control.

I was in the process of rescuing a stray cat at a local walmart I had a catsnip appt for shots deworming and neutering when I got to the walmart some woman had him in a crate and told me she would try to place him I explained to her I wanted it and would be right back with my crate when I got back she was gone I found out where she worked because she had on a Domino's pizza shirt and left her several messages to try to get the cat back but she never returned my call!! Go figure that out. I guess I will call catsnip and cancel his appointment. I really tried to help that cat I only hope he is being taken care of

That's kind of weird that she claims to want to place the cat, but then wouldn't let you take him/her. I wonder if any of the other Domino's employees know anything about her. I hope the kitty is in good hands. Bless you for trying to help.

Could not save my wal mart cat cat snip called me to confirm my appt on for my wal mart cat on August 22 I told them the story and they could not believe someone would be so cruel to take a cat that had a home to go to. They said they have never heard of such a mean thing to do to a cat and they hope she did find him a home and did not dump him at animal control!! I can only hope he is safe and being cared for.
